NC State completes the sweep of cross town rival Tar Heels
NC State entered the weekend desperately needing a series win over the Tar Heels to continue hopes of a post season birth. They did that and more by sweeping the weekend series against UNC.
On Saturday, Brett Williams and Cameron Conner drove in runs in the seventh and eighth innings Saturday, and NC State took advantage of three North Carolina errors to defeat the fifth-ranked Tar Heels 8-7 in the second game of the series.
Sunday Brett Williams continued his great weekend by killing a North Carolina rally with a spectacular double play from center field Sunday, and NC State used that momentum-changer to roll up a 10-2 victory over the Tar Heels, completing a three-game sweep at Doak Field at Dail Park.

Florida edges Georgia 5-4
The Gators wanted to start their series off against the Bulldogs on the right foot and they did just that! Hudson Randall the starting pitcher for Florida allowed three runs on six hits through 6 1/3 innings of work. At the plate for the Gators Austin Maddox had a big night with three hits and two runs batted in.
Florida sophomore Steven Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.) struck out junior Levi Hyams with the tying run aboard to end the game as the No. 4 Gators defeated Georgia in the opener of the weekend series on Friday night at Foley Field. The victory was the 150th of head coach Kevin O’Sullivan’s career and increased UF’s winning streak over the Bulldogs to nine games dating back to the 2008 season.
Hultzen dominant again as UVA blanks Duke 10-0
Danny Hultzen became Virginia's all-time wins leader as the top-ranked Cavaliers blanked Duke, 10-0, Friday evening in front of 3,550 fans at Davenport Field. Virginia recorded its 11th shutout of the season, tying the Atlantic Coast Conference single-season record, previously set by the 1977 Clemson and 2005 Virginia teams.
The win was the 350th in the coaching career of UVa head coach Brian O'Connor. He reached the 350-win plateau in just 472 games, the fewest in ACC history. Florida State's Mike Martin reached that mark in 478 games.
Hultzen (8-0) won his 28th career game to set the UVa career wins record, passing Jacob Thompson, who won 27 games from 2006-08. Hultzen is now 28-2 in his career. He worked 7.0 scoreless innings, allowing just four singles. He struck out nine and did not walk a batter. He now has fanned 99 batters in nine starts this season and 329 in his career, which ranks 12th in conference history.

NC State upsets the red hot Tar Heels of UNC
You may be surprised to know that the Wolfpack of NC State entered Friday’s contest against rival North Carolina with an RPI of 54 given their horrible play so far in the ACC. The good news for NC State is that they finally got a quality win against an ACC opponent with a series-opening 5-4 win over the red-hot Tar Heels. N.C. State starting pitcher Cory Mazzoni struck out seven and allowed just four runs on four hits in seven innings, while reliever Chris Overman was huge, striking out three in 1 2/3 shutout innings to end the game. Andrew Ciencin drove in the game winning run in the 5th.

#3 South Carolina beats #1 Vanderbilt in big weekend series
Last year left-handed pitcher Michael Roth was a situational guy the Gamecocks used out of the pen, now he’s a likely All-American that continues to dominate opponents. Roth struck out eight and allowed just a run on three hits in 7 2/3 innings as the Gamecocks defeated Vanderbilt 3-1 in Game 1 of a huge SEC series with major national implications. Reliever Matt Price tossed 1 1/3 innings of shutout relief work.
For Vanderbilt highly touted RHP Sonny Gray struck out 7 while also throwing 7 2/3 innings.
